The Valley of the Moon Scottish Fiddling School in the northern California redwoods invites you to a week of intensive study, recreation, and good times with people who share an interest in the music and dance traditions of Scotland.

VOM 2012 will run from Friday, August 24 through Saturday, September 1.

VOM is currently filled, but it is still possible to apply for the waiting list. There are currently between 20 and 30 people ahead of you at this point, but it is still possible that cancellations would eventually result in an opening for you. Alasdair Fraser, Director of the camp, is in demand as a concert artist, dance fiddler and fiddle teacher throughout his native Scotland and the United States. 'Artist in Residence' at the prestigious Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow for the past several years, he excels in expressing the beauty and energy of traditional Scottish fiddling and in creating exciting new music that remains rooted in tradition.

Join us in the beautiful setting of Camp Campbell in the Santa Cruz mountains, where fiddlers of all ages and levels of musical experience choose from daily workshops on Scottish and related fiddle styles. Additional classes are offered in dancing and singing, as well as piano, guitar, cello and percussion

Alasdair Fraser's Sierra Fiddle Camp will will run from Saturday June 16, 2012 to Sunday June 24, 2012 and will be held once again at Shady Creek Camp on the San Juan Ridge near Nevada City, CA in the beautiful setting of the Sierra Foothills. Fiddlers of all ages and levels of musical experience choose from daily workshops on Scottish and related fiddle styles. Classes are also offered in dance, singing, piano, guitar, cello, percussion and more. Carefully chosen staff at both of these camps represent some of the finest teachers and most vibrant performers in the old and new traditions.
