Valerie Thompson

Valerie Thompson (Composer/Cellist) is a Boston-based musician who tours nationally and internationally in indie folk/rock bands, string quartets, and pit orchestras, and as a cultural ambassador. She currently performs with Laura Cortese & the Dance Cards, Goli, Know Orchestra, Phil & the Flying Leap, and Expansion Quartet. Film/play composer credits include A. Jacks (Trusette Entertainment & 3 Legged Bird Productions, 2022), Bent (The Umbrella Stage Company-2020), and Bony Lil’s Creation (Extravagant Bedhead Productions, 2007). A notable acting credit includes bandleader in the 100th episode of Gossip Girl. She holds a BM in Music Performance (Berklee College of Music) and an MM in Contemporary Improvisation (New England Conservatory). An enthusiastic educator, she teaches at the Brookline Music School, regional fiddle camps, and maintains a private cello studio in Cambridge.
